I recently found this book in paperback and bought it. I'm planning to read it right after I finish The Canterbury Tales. However, I must confess that I just had to read about Fingolfin's confrontation with Morgoth, which is quite possibly my favorite scene in all of Tolkien's writings. :p

I found the Lay of Leithian very intoxicating (but I am normally a poetry buff). I don't like alliterative styles of poetry so much, so I have trouble with most of the other Lays.

But I did recite 400 lines (the first two Cantos) of the Lay of Leithian to my AP LA class, when we had to memorize poems. Took 16 minutes. Broke the record for longest poem by about 70 lines. ;)
