Welcome to theEntmoot Election 2010 Thread, everyone!

Before we get started, a little history of this prestigious office. Many of you may know that the first Entmoot President was HOBBIT, brother of The Ben (aka bmilder), founder of this worthy message board.

Coming on the heels of this appalling cronyism and nepotism, I, hectorberlioz, won the office in 2004 by landslide amongst tough competition. After my illustrious four years in office, I decided to retire and help the world in other ways.

In the 2008 Entmoot Elections yet another unique event in election history happened: a co-presidency was the result of a tie between the two major candidates, Nurvingiel and Sasquatch of Fangorn.

And now, in 2010 we come upon another chance to better our nation, another adventure to advent, another opportunity to take down The Powers That Be (aka the admins and mods) who oppress us and enslave us!

I ask you all to pick up your pitchforks, your shovels, and your walking sticks---and raise them and while shouting "YES WE WILL!"

And if you have any other kind of violent-looking prop, bring that along as well

Acally, at one point during my campaign I lost my internet service. Had to use the library comps a lot.

And Midge, don't worrry about the creek nickels. That's what lobbyists are for. They buy themselves for you ;-). A pretty nifty system.

Well, each candidate can choose his or her own platform on which to run. We've seen some very inventive campaigns in the past, however no one so far has managed to abolish the 90 seconds rule...

It was originally four years, but we decided that was too serious. I gave up the post gladly, though. It's hard being persecuted at the top. The mods and admins pelt you with hard biscuits, and you get rotten cabbages from below.

Perhaps, in view of the fiscal irresponsibility and devaluation already marked on this campaign circuit, not to mention global warming putting creek nickels out of reach except for those who can afford scuba gear (if not this year, then soon and very soon - Al G and the Carbon Offsets), and NOT EVEN getting anywhere near the POLITICALLY INCORRECT treatment of lobbyists on this insensitive thread, I should inquire (enquire for the Brits and other non-spellers), can we really afford to have politics enter into the equation of entmootish fellowship? Hector has done a really good job and should be President for Life, even if he abandoned the job. One could raise all sorts of rancor and debate involving opinions in these matters and it's just not good for morale and pennyante personalities who get upset over the slightest infraction of their personal universes by realities like data.

Speaking of which, are votes going to actually be counted and kept in a vault by Price and Waterhouse accountants like for really important things like the Oscars, or is this going to be done in an open and transparent "hope-y, change-y" sort of way with NOBEL Prizes given for being on the post for 7 days already or do ya really have to waith for nine days to qualify?
Are the elections going to be certified by the UN?

I have real questions about this whole charade which is only allowed by the true oligarchy of mods and admins to give the merest wisp of the appearance of "democracy" and "responsiveness to the dear underlings who support our rule". At times, I have wondered if Hector were not merely a mouthpiece for the establishment in spite of valiant efforts to bring truth, honesty, beauty, and music to the Entmoot Way.

But I digress, in the current economy, who can afford lobbyists? Shouldn't the government take from those who have and give equally. Call it redistribution, call it "hope - change", call it socialism and leftist oriented healthcare, but DO NOT MAKE THE PEONS PAY FOR THE LOBBYISTS! That way everyone will have them and they will be worthless.

Do lobbyists increase calving of icebergs?
